With options evening approaching, the Geography department met this evening to discuss which GCSE course we are going to follow next year. Current year 9 pupils will be the first pupils to study for this GCSE. In the run up to Christmas, Mr Barlow conducted a series of question and answer sessions with pupils from Year 9, 11 and 12 to determine what pupils feel is important in a GCSE. The feedback sessions supplied the department with some vital information to make this key decision. We considered your views and have ultimately decided to follow the OCR ‘A’ GCSE from September 2009. We feel that this course will be ideal for students at Maghull High School and will allow pupils to study Geography that is ‘real’ and ‘relevant’.
We hope that pupils are engaged with the curriculum that will be on offer from September 2009 and we hope to speak to as many of you as possible at the Y9 options evening.
If you would like further information on the OCR ‘A’ GCSE then please speak to your Geography teacher or download this summary leaflet
